I will overwhelm 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout fight which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua stated he will "dominate completely" the American and "break" his opponent as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified boxing king Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Attitude

"I will injure his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Exchange

In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead attacked former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted British rival Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer said.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making massive earnings.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As both boxers engaged in the customary face-off, with their physical disparity evident, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
